O'Brien and Aikins take first ever wins at Brockville Ontario Speedway

BROCKVILLE, ON - The name O'Brien has been a familiar one in victory lane over the years at Brockville Ontario Speedway.  However, it was a different O'Brien celebrating his first ever 358 DIRT Modified win at the Beast of the East on Saturday night.  Tim O'Brien, the youngest of the star studded clan really made his sponsor's night his night as he dominated all 30 laps on Jim's Performance Plus night at the track.

O'Brien wasted no time in getting to the front of the field and was constantly able to pull out big leads.  Even when restarts brought everyone back together again, the 88 car distanced itself from the field quickly.  Kyle Dingwall in his best run of the year so far, came through the field for a solid second place run, while Pat O'Brien nipped Gage Morin at the line for third spot.  Bobby Herrington rounded out the top five.

Dana Aikins has won in the past at Brockville but never in an open wheeled machine.  He took his first career DIRT Sportsman feature win surviving a late scare from crafty veteran Chris Herbison in the process.  The Alexandra Bay pilot and former Street Stock winner, ran a consistent line around the bottom of the track after starting up front and no one could find the right way to get past.  Dylan Evoy was third in front of Chris Raabe and Mike Mainse.

The King of the North Country Street Stock event once again came down to a shootout between Todd Raabe and Eli Gilbert, with Raabe prevailing for the win.   Gilbert was a close second with Derek Crydermaqn, Kevin Fetterly and Steve Kearney in pursuit.   The closest finish of the night came in the 16 lap Rookie event, as the margin was so razor thin the flagstand needed to be consulted.  Nolan Swamp nipped Mike Gaucher by an eyelash.  Jean Marc Larose was third best on this night with Joe McNicholls, and Josh Kirkland fourth and fifth respectively.

Its a double header week at the Speedway this time, with the first ever appearance of the O Reilly All Star Late Models, along with Sportsman and Street Stocks on Thursday night, August 12th and a regular program in all four divisions plus the Vintage cars on Saturday night, August 14th.   The green flag drops at 7 pm both nights.
