Glendale Council Approves New Coyotes Lease

Glendale City Council approved a new lease for the Phoenix Coyotes, paving the way for the sale of the NHL team in Chicago Business Matt Hulsizer. The board voted 5-2 Tuesday night in favor of the lease, which cost the city $ 197 000 000 over six years.

Hulsizer must pay a U.S. $ 170 million for the team. NHL commissioner Gary Bettman attended the the meeting and assured the Board that the Board approve d'Hulsizer league administration to its owner.

However, the conservative Goldwater Institute has warned the Council that the terms of the lease may constitute a violation of the anti-subsidy from Arizona.

The NHL has bought the franchise of the Bankruptcy Court of the United States a year ago with the intention of selling it to someone to keep the team in the state. This, however, was subject to a new contract with Glendale, Jobing.com Arena and built by the Coyotes.
