
Former All Blacks captain Tana Umaga has done an excellent first half tries to help Waikato Chiefs beat Auckland Blues 16-11 in Super 15 rugby on Saturday.
The 38-year-old Umaga scored in the 26th minute to lift the Chiefs a 7-6 lead at halftime after playing the first 40 minutes in a strong wind.
Although Umaga field limped from the field in the 44 minute with an ankle injury, the leaders were able to maintain their sixth win of the season.
Both teams scored one try and the match was decided by goal kicking of former All Blacks flyhalves Luke McAlister for Auckland, and Stephen Donald for Waikato.
McAlister has launched its first two penalties, including a massive strike from 55 meters, but missed his next five attempts. Donald missed his first two, and he landed three penalties and a conversion.
