DVD Giveaway - Java Head and Tiger Bay

June 20th sees the release of the Anna May Wong double-bill of 1934's Java Head and Tiger Bay on DVD, and to celebrate Flickering Myth have three copies to give away to our readers courtesy of Optimum Releasing.

The first Asian American movie star to become an international star, Anna May Wong's career spanned over four decades, starting in Technicolor’s first two-strip color movie, The Toll of the Sea (1922) and was chosen by Douglas Fairbanks, Sr. to be in The Thief of Bagdad (1924), and co-starred with Marlene Dietrich in Shanghai Express (1932).

"JAVA HEAD: The port city of Bristol, England, in the 1800s is home to Java Head, a sailing ship line company. The owner has two sons. One, a handsome seafarer, is in love with a local girl, but cannot marry her due to a long-running feud between their fathers. After a lengthy voyage, he returns with a very exotic, noble Chinese wife, which scandalizes the conservative town. His other son, a "landlubber", seeks to convert to steamships, to the disgust of his father. Even worse, he is secretly dealing in contraband."

He intervenes when a local criminal protection racketeer targets a Chinese nightclub, and falls in love with the owner's young English foster-sister. But Olaf's gang have only just started their campaign against Lui Chang, the cultured, elegant woman who owns the premises... and she is determined not to be intimidated or driven out of business under any circumstances..."

Last month we posted about a competition run by Stella Artois, sponsor of the upcoming Cannes Film Festival, giving budding film stars the chance to win the part of 'Jacques d’Azur', the legendary ‘King Of Cannes’, in a short film to be shot on the French Riviera in the run up to the festival. Well, the folk at Stella have been back in touch to let us know that they’ve found their Jacques in the shape of 30-year-old Gustavo Alvarez from Buenos Aires, Argentina, who nabs a fabulous prize including a V.I.P. trip to Cannes.

However, with the festival fast approaching we've managed to get our hands on three goody bags to give out to our lovely readers, featuring the perfect combination of beer and alcohol. Kickboxer director David Worth delves into the violent world of mixed martial arts for the action drama Fists of Rage, which is set to arrive on DVD on Monday, March 28th, and to celebrate the release Revolver Entertainment have kindly supplied us with three copies of the film to give away to our readers.

DVD Giveaway - Metalocalypse Season 3 - NOW CLOSED

The third season of the brutally metal Adult Swim animated comedy Metalocalypse is released on DVD on Monday, March 21st and to celebrate the lovely people at Revolver Entertainment have kindly supplied us with three copies of the DVD set to give away to our readers.

Metalocalypse follows the on and off-stage adventures of Dethklok, the world’s most popular and heaviest metal band - so popular that thousands of fans will travel to a remote area of Scandanavia to hear them perform a a jingle for a coffee company.

Season 3 of Metalocalypse picks up directly after the violent attack on Mordhaus leaving the band in a precarious position without management. Left alone to rebuild their legacy in the sky, they are challenges with new venomous trials. How will the biggest entertainment act in the universe cope with the brutality of a troubled music industry, declining economy, and their own unbridled narcissism?
