Brighton Speedway and its fans wait all season long for this event and 2010 is no different as they prepare for the biggest Applefest Weekend to date! With more classes, more laps, more money on the line than ever before attendance is sure to be big for the 6th running of the event! In conjunction with the towns Applefest festival there is a midway, a parade, a car show and all sorts of other great activities up town but the real action takes place at night when the horse power hits the track.
This year 10 different classes will compete over the two nights for a total of more than $40,000.00 in purse money! Friday Night Smylies Independent Grocers’ will present the DIRTcar Sportsman Cup. The race will be a qualifier for the Town and Country 30 Lap event at the Syracuse Mile as part of Super Dirt Week in early October. Joining the DIRTcar Sportsman for the first time ever at Brighton Speedway will be the NYDCA and TUSA Mod-Lites along with the Eastern Ontario Vintage Stock Car Club, the Brighton Automotive Pro Stocks, Bill’s Johns Comp 4 and the Quinte Towing Stingers.
After the parade on Saturday, the action returns to the speedway for Benson Auto Parts and Cool 100 Fm Applefest Shootout 50 lap 358 DIRT Modified action. This event will see some of the best Modified pilots from, Ontario, Quebec and Upstate New York power their 600+ horsepower machines around the 1/3rd mile bullring!
Joining the headlining 358’s Saturday will be the rescheduled Summer Scorcher events that includes a 40 Lap DIRTcar Pro Late Model and the IMCA/Canadian Modified Showdown, plus the Brighton Speedway / Merrittville Speedway Duel in the Dirt race for Street Stocks that is expected to draw huge car counts. The NYCDA and TUSA Mod-Lites will also return for their second night in a row for what should be an action packed night at Brighton to close out Applefest
