RYAN LITT: BERLIN BOUND

by Tommy Goudge (September 24, 2010) – London, Ontario’s Ryan Litt and the #07L BS&B Radiators/OTC Tools Sprint Car team will be back on track this Saturday at Berlin Raceway in Marne, Michigan. The team had last weekend off after a 5th place finish at the Dells Raceway Park in Wisconsin on September 11.

The Must See Racing Extreme Sprint Series season championship race was held at Dells, and Ryan’s goal was to get a good finish and remain 4th in the series standings. This race was Ryan and the team’s first visit to the 1/3 mile track, and they came out of qualifying with the 3rd fastest time.

“It was a nice facility and a fun track,” says Ryan. “We struggled all day in practice getting forward bite. We threw everything at the car and ended up laying down some good numbers in qualifying.”

Fast qualifier Dave Baumgartner rolled a 10 on the inversion dice, meaning Ryan started 8th in the feature.

“The race was a lot of fun,” says Ryan. “We were up to 4th and side by side with Tim Cox in 3rd place when the caution flew. Jay (Jason Blonde) and I were having some real good battles. He was working good up top, whereas I was good right on the white line.”

The setup on Ryan’s car was better on long runs, which would have worked out well if the 50 lap feature had gone green all the way.

“My car would take 6-7 laps to come to me,” says Ryan. “On restarts it was super tight. Unfortunately during the last 25 laps there were 3 or 4 cautions, so I could never really mount a charge and fell back to 5th.”

This weekend’s event at Berlin Raceway is a non-points invitational for the Must See Racing series. Ryan is looking forward to racing at one of his favourite venues again, as well as seeing friends from the ISMA Supermodified series, USAC Regional Midget series, and Berlin’s Modified division.

“I’m really excited about this weekend,” says Ryan. “This is one of my favourite events and I was disappointed that we didn't run it last year. Sprint Cars, Supermodifeds, Modifieds, and Midgets - as a fan you can't beat that.”

Ryan’s most recent race at Berlin was just a few weeks ago, on Labour Day weekend. He finished second to fellow Canadian Mike Ling in that event, and has recorded two feature wins at the 7/16 mile track in his career.

“I'm glad we got to run there a few weeks ago,” says Ryan. “Now we know exactly what the car likes during the day, and at night. Hopefully we can correct our mistakes from the last event at Berlin and end the season with quick time and a win. That would be great.”
