CORNELIUS, NC - Gaunt Brothers Racing will feature a new livery next weekend when the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series hits the streets of Toronto for the Jumpstart 100. The Rusty Wallace Racing Experience will adorn the GBR No.11 machine with Jason Bowles back behind the wheel.
In an exciting new venture between former NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Rusty Wallace and Triad Racing Technologies, the Rusty Wallace Racing Experience (RWRE) will deliver an authentic racing opportunity for fans. RWRE will be exclusive to the 2-mile AAA Speedway in Southern California and feature a stable of NASCAR COT race cars with Triad Racing Technologies Cup series engines, all of which have raced in the last two years in Sprint Cup competition.
“Our cars are beautiful,” said Wallace, the 1989 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion, former Auto Club Speedway winner and current ESPN auto racing analyst. “We’ve been paying a lot of attention to the details because we know the true fans of auto racing are very knowledgeable; they’re looking for an authentic experience. Knowing the car they’re jumping into has actually been raced is important to them.”
With the Racing Experience’s tagline “Race With Rusty” on the quarter panels, Jason Bowles returns to take the driving duties on the road course in Toronto and is looking forward to tackling the street course.
“Can’t wait to get to Toronto,” said Bowles, who finished third at Mosport in his first NCATS start in June. “We’ve got Rusty Wallace’s Racing Experience on the car this weekend which, I’m actually going out to help shake down those COT cars at California Speedway a couple days before we get to Toronto. Seeing the cars they have for this school will get anyone excited including drivers; who wouldn’t want to drive a car Mark Martin drove? Going from a full blown Cup car at a big track to the streets in Canada will make for an interesting week for me, I’m excited about it.
“We tested last week down in South Carolina with the Canadian Tire car which was something we really needed. They don’t give you a lot of practice time at these races so to have a chance to run through different changes with this car for a day was really key, we learned a lot. These cars haven’t been to Toronto for a few years, so hopefully that helps us out a little bit and gives everyone a little bit of a learning curve and not just us.”
NCATS cars are on track for practice and qualifying Friday for the Jumpstart 100, with racing slated for Saturday afternoon.
