CARQUEST PRO STOCK TOUR HEADING TO RIVERSIDE FOR PARTS FOR TRUCKS 100
(Halifax, NS, August 8, 2010) The CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour will make its third and final visit to Riverside International Speedway this season for the Parts for Trucks 100 on August 14. This Saturday’s Parts for Trucks 100 is round 8 of 11 for the regional touring series. With only four races left this season the battle for the Championship is on and teams will be looking to gain each and every position on the grid they can in order to accumulate maximum points. Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials will start at 5:10 pm, with the green flag set to wave at approximately 6:00 pm. Grandstand gates open at 1:30 pm.
Over 25 of the Maritimes best stock car drivers will attempt to qualify at the 1/3 mile, high banked oval including local favorites Donald Chisholm (Antigonish, NS) and George Koszkulics (New Glasgow, NS). Jerome Kehoe of Sydney, NS will also be competing at the track known for its steep banking and blistering speed. Kehoe is currently leading the EIT Race Radios Rookie of the Year standings. These three drivers may be hometown heroes but they will have some heavy hitters to contend with including former Pro Stock Tour Champ, Shawn Tucker (Fredericton, NB) who has seen Riverside’s Victory Lane on several occasions, as has Kent Vincent (Crapaud, PE), who took home the prestigious IWK 250 title on the Tour’s last visit. Greg Proude (Springvale, PE) is also no stranger to Victory Lane and currently holds the track record with an incredible lap of 14.102 seconds; set this season during Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials on June 19.
The Parts for Trucks Challenge enters round three of four this weekend. The Parts for Trucks Challenge is a contingency program (bonus money) in which drivers accumulate points based on their finishing positions in each of the four Parts for Trucks sponsored races. Shawn Turple (Enfield, NS), currently leads the PFT Challenge standings, followed by Craig Slaunwhite (Terence Bay, NS), Wayne Smith (Timberlea, NS) Shawn Tucker (Fredericton, NB) and Jonathan Hicken (Brudenell, PE).
