Baseball: Potomac Falls Junior Jackson Rogers Named Region II Player of the Year, Broad Run's Cassidy is Coach of the Year



(June 7, 2011) - Potomac Falls High School junior Jackson Rogers has been named the Region II Pitcher of the Year in a vote of the region's coaches and Broad Run skipper Pat Cassidy, who led his team to its first regional title since 1996, is the Coach of the Year.

Boys Soccer: Broad Run's Reitzel is Named Region II Player of the Year; Tuscarora's Gryder Coach of the Year


(June 7, 2011) - Broad Run High School senior Kevin Reitzel, who leads the Spartans into a 7 p.m. state quarterfinal contest at home tonight, has been named Region II boys soccer Player of the Year in a vote of the region's coaches. Tuscarora's Dave Gryder, who has his first-year Huskies in the state tournament with no seniors on the roster, was named Coach of the Year.

(June 7, 2011) - The Broad Run High School girls soccer team, which opens its quest for a fourth straight state title by hosting Jamestown tonight at 5 p.m. in a state tournament quarterfinal, has swept the Region II awards with senior Whitney Church named Player of the Year and Claire Collins named Coach of the Year.

Girls Soccer: Broad Run Girls Win 5th Straight Region II Title

Ashburn (June 4, 2011) - The Broad Run High School girls soccer team clinched their fifth consecutive Region II title with a convincing 5-1 win over Dulles District rival Woodgrove Friday night.


The Wolverines are no strangers to the Spartans who have played each other four times this season including this year’s District championship game.

Boys Tennis: Freedom Rings Up Region II Doubles Championship

(June 1, 2011) - Freedom High School sophomores Wesley Wong and Alex Cragg remained unbeaten on the season as they swept a duo from Sherando to capture the Region II title. Earlier in the day, Wong won the Region II singles title as well. Next week Wong and Cragg will compete at the AA state tournament at Radford.
