Austria’s Klaus Kroell Leads Downhill Training

Klaus Kroell Austria took the final workout Tuesday for a World Cup downhill, which was marked by two falls.

Louis-Pierre Helie Marco Sullivan in Canada and the United States were both transported to a local hospital after a fall on the icy Stelvio course.

Kroell clocked 2 minutes 1.56 seconds to beat Austrian Mario Scheiber other than 0.58, with Swiss veteran Didier Cuche third, 0.70 back.

Bode Miller, the American who is still looking for his first podium at the end of the season, was fourth, 0.85 behind.

Kroell has won two World Championships in his career and finished second in this event two years ago.

Michael Walchhofer, another favorite for the race on Wednesday Austrian, was sixth.
