New recruit to support international growth plans

EMSc (UK) Ltd developer and manufacturer of the innovative Powerstar voltage optimisation system, has recently appointed Steve Curtis as international business development manager.

Steve, who has worked in the energy industry for over 22 years, brings with him a wealth of experience and a thorough understanding of the sector. Most recently, Steve worked for 6 years as business development manager for MeterPlus, npower’s metering business. A role that required him to negotiate, secure and manage new contracts.

Based at EMSc’s head office in Sheffield, Steve’s role will involve him managing the company’s existing international distribution partnerships in Australia, South Africa, United Arab Emirates, Greece, Malta and Ireland. He is also tasked with finding new distribution partners in Scandinavia, Benelux, Germany, France and Iberia.

Steve’s appointment reflects EMSc’s significant growth over the last twelve months, increasing turnover by 166% to almost £8m. In line with the success the company has been experiencing in the UK, it has also seen sales and interest for Powerstar grow in markets across Europe.
Dr. Alex Mardapittas, managing director at EMSc, commented,
“We are all extremely pleased to welcome Steve to the team and we look forward to seeing the value he will no doubt bring. The company has had a strong twelve months and Steve’s appointment gives opportunity for further expansion internationally.”

Steve commented,
“I really enjoy the fact that I am selling a product that allows companies to reduce their energy consumption and their carbon footprint, which in turn benefits the environment, as I am a bit of a ‘Greenie’ myself.”

Powerstar is the most efficient voltage optimisation system in the world and can save up to 26.1% of total electricity consumption and related CO² emissions, all without compromising the supply to electrical equipment. The payback period is typically between 0.8 and 2.5 years.

Powerstar:

Can save up to 26.1% of electricity consumption.

Is fully designed and manufactured in the UK. All Powerstar components, including even minor items such as the paint, are sourced from UK manufacturers. The Powerstar design and any associated software are designed by EMSc UK Limited.

Requires no maintenance and has a 15 year warranty.

Is an approved energy savings system and may qualify for an interest-free Energy Efficiency Loan from the Carbon Trust.

Comes with guaranteed savings.

Will improve the life expectancy of electrical equipment.

Will improve the power quality (reduce harmonics and improve the power factor).

Has the highest efficiency and provides better savings than any other voltage optimisation system sold in the UK. This has been proven in independent tests (on the same load and same voltage reduction), head to head with similar competitive systems. In these tests Powerstar achieved:
Significantly higher energy savings (up to 13% more)
Reduced harmonics by 88% more than competitive systems
Running significantly cooler than competitive systems. (While Powerstar operated at normal ambient temperatures, competitive systems were operating at nearly 70°C).

The EMSc team has over 150 years combined experience in designing and manufacturing special transformers and the Powerstar design is a direct result of this experience.
