In the battle of big-budget franchises vying for Chris Pine, "Star Trek" sequel may be winning should win over a planned restart of the Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan franchise.
It makes sense on some level, as the anticipation of a new "Star Trek" is extremely high right now while Ryan franchise was on the ice since the Ben Affleck in 2002 "The Sum of All Fears."
But instead of rumors, the deadline has now stated that the problems of Jack Ryan, the script has officially moved this project to the backburner, so that Pine can dive right into JJ Abrams’ “Star Trek” sequel.
"Paramount's expectation is for the ‘Star Trek’ "to start production in the fall to study film can keep the June 29, 2012 release date," Mike Fleming writes.
Although the original "Star Trek" writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci pounding the script (with the great Damon Lindelof), it is not yet confirmed that Abrams will return to lead. More on this subject, I'm sure we approach Abrams "Super 8" out in June.
