Ex-cop indicted in wife's death

Bronx District Attorney Robert T. Johnson announced the indictment of a 38-year-old ex-cop on a charge that he allegedly strangled his 40-year-old wife, Tina Adovasio, to death.

The grand jury charged Eddy Coello, of Edison Avenue, with one count of murder in the second degree. Coello is facing a maximum sentence of 25 years to life imprisonment if convicted of murder.

The charge in this indictment is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed to be innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Coello is being held without bail and is scheduled to be arraigned on the indictment on Friday, April 29, 2011 in State Supreme Court, Part D.V., before Acting State Supreme Court Justice Miriam Best.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Edward Talty, Chief of the Homicide Bureau and Jennifer Gashi of the Domestic Violence Bureau.
