Fresh from a number two box-office opening in North America with his latest movie Sucker Punch, director Zack Snyder has revealed that Amy Adams has been cast as journalist Lois Lane in his upcoming reboot Superman: Man of Steel. "There was a big, giant search for Lois,” Snyder said, speaking to Hero Complex. "We did a lot of auditioning but we had this meeting with Amy Adams and after that I just felt she was perfect for it."
The Academy Award-nominated actress will join the cast as love interest to Henry Cavill's Superman, ending speculation about the character's inclusion in the film. Also signed up are Diane Lane and Kevin Costner as Martha and Jonathan Kent, while Viggo Mortensen, Edgar Ramirez and Michael Shannon are thought to be in the running for the film's as-yet-unrevealed villain(s).
Superman: Man of Steel is set to commence shooting in August for a predicted December 2012 release and is of course produced by Christopher Nolan, who will also be completing his Batman trilogy next year with The Dark Knight Rises.
