Oldman has had a diverse career, starring in films like Leon, The Fifth Element, Sid & Nancy, Air Force One and Bram Stoker’s Dracula, as well as recently taking on roles in the popular franchises Harry Potter and Christopher Nolan’s Batman movies.
He said in his acceptance speech: “I can't tell you how nice it feels to have your work appreciated and honoured.” He thanked all of the directors who have cast him in their films over the years and allowed him to have a long career.
Other winners at the Awards included; Chloe Moretz (Best Newcomer), Noomi Rapace (Best Actress), Kick-Ass (Best British Film), Inception (Best Film), Edgar Wright (Best Director) and Keira Knightley (Empire Hero).
