Warner Bros have just announced that they've pulled the plug on a 3D release for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 when it hits cinemas next month, citing lack of time to complete the necessary work. In a statement the studio confirmed that the first installment of the epic conclusion to J. K. Rowling's blockbuster fantasy series will still receive a 2D release (along with an IMAX version) on November 19th, but followed up by stating that, "despite everyone’s best efforts, we were unable to convert the film in its entirety and meet the highest standards of quality."
Producer David Heyman said, “For 10 years, we have worked alongside Alan Horn and the studio, whose priority has always been to preserve the integrity of Jo Rowling’s books as we have adapted them to the screen, and this decision reflects that commitment.” Meanwhile David Yates, director of The Deathly Hallows added that the decision comes with his full support and "underscores the fact that Warner Bros. has always put quality first.”
Meanwhile Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is still scheduled to arrive in both 2D and 3D when it is released on July 15th, 2011. So, it looks like Harry Potter fans will have a little while longer to wait before they finally get to see thetheir favourite boy wizard with an added dimension.
