Girls Soccer: Broad Run, Heritage and Woodgrove All Advance to State Semifnals

(June 8, 2011) - 3-time defending AA girl soccer state champion Broad Run High School advancing to the state semifinals in Radford with an easy 5-1 win over Jamestown Tuesday did not raise many eyebrows.

On the other hand, first-year Woodgrove, a school with no seniors and the No. 6 seed in the Dulles District, winning 4-1 on the road at Warhill to advance to Radford was certainly surprising.

Softball: Briar Woods and Woodgrove Advance to State Semifinals for First Time

(June 8, 2011) - Loudoun will send two softball teams to the Virginia High School League AA state semifinals Friday at Radford after Briar Woods, behind junior Macy Jones' pitching gem, and Woodgrove, behind a sixth inning rally, both advanced.

It is the first trip to the Final Four for both Briar Woods (23-4) and first-year Woodgrove (24-4).

Lacrosse: Loudoun Teams Fight Hard but Fall in State Quarterfinals

(June 7, 2011) - Three Loudoun lacrosse team battled over the weekend in the VHSL state quarterfinals but the Briar Woods High School boys and Loudoun Valley and Woodgrove girls all saw their seasons come to a close.

Boys Lacrosse: Albemarle 9, Briar Woods 7
The Falcons led, 6-1, at the half but couldn't not stop Albemarle for the big comeback.

Track and Field: Record-Setting State Meet on Day One for Stone Bridge's Springman, Loudoun County's 4x800 Relay Team

(June 4, 2011) - It was a record-setting day for Loudoun athletes at the AA and AAA state track and field meets as Stone Bridge High School's Haley Springman captured the AAA discus title with a school-record throw of 135-2 and the Loudoun County High School boys 4x800 relay team shattered the school and state record by winning a state title with a 7:47.65.

News: VHSL Offers AAA Spring Jubilee Tickets Online for First Time

Charlottesville (May 31, 2011) - For the first time ever, the VHSL is offering online ticket sales for the VHSL Group AAA Spring Jubilee on June 10-11, 2011 at Westfield High School. Admission tickets are $10 for a Friday or Saturday single-day admission pass, or $16 for a two-day pass for both Friday and Saturday. Wrestling: VHSL Offering Online Ticket Sales for AAA Championships for First Time
