Expanding its portfolio in the segment of high end bikes, Yamaha major Japanese two-wheeler on Friday launched a 998cc motorcycle - FZ1, India, at a price of Rs 8.7 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi ).
A wholly owned subsidiary of the company Yamaha Motor France - has also introduced a 153cc motorcycle-SZ-R carries a price of 55,500 rupees.
"India is a key market for Yamaha and we were constantly changing speed to transform the market for lifestyle and entertainment value," India Yamaha Motor CEO and Hiroyuki Suzuki, said. The company currently offers three high-end superbikes in the Indian market.
These are - VMAX, MT01 and YZF-R1. India's products Yamaha Motor's motorcycle manufacturing in two plants in Surajpur in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana and Faridabad in the export market for the scooter.
The company is looking to enter the market segment in India and the decision can be made by next year.
