Sensex Ends Lower by 33 Points in Range Bound Trade

BSE Sensex benchmark fell for a second day Thursday, losing 33 points on profit booking by investors amid a mixed trend on markets overseas.

The Bombay Stock Exchange barometer Sensex closed lower by 32.92 points to 19,982.88 points in a certain range operation. The benchmark index lost 44 points on Wednesday.

Similarly, a broad-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty fell by 4.40 points at 5,980, after shuttling between 6,006.45 and 5,964.60 points.

Investors adjust their portfolios and a diverging trend in global markets before the holidays festive year-end mainly influenced trading sentiment, marketmen said.

Following a slowdown in foreign funds, domestic funds have failed to expand their positions in a meaningful way in the midst of rising food inflation to double digits at 12.13 percent for the week ending 11 December 9.46 percent in the previous week.
