Video: Richard Ayoade, Craig Roberts and Yasmin Paige on Submarine

SubmarineBritish comedian Richard Ayoade (The Mighty Boosh, The IT Crowd) makes his theatrical debut as writer-director of the comedy drama Submarine, a coming-of-age tale based upon Joe Dunthorne's 2008 novel of the same name, which arrives here in the UK this week. The film stars Craig Roberts (Being Human, Jane Eyre) as Oliver Tate, a 15-year-old with two objectives - to lose his virginity to his pyromaniac girlfriend Jordana (Yasmin Paige), and to prevent his mother (Sally Hawkins) from leaving his despressed father (Noah Taylor) and hooking up with a new age life coach (Paddy Considine).

Submarine premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival back in September 2010 and has been picking up favourable reviews off the back of screenings at festivals such as London, Cannes and Berlin. Meanwhile Ayoade and his cast have been out promoting the film this week in advance of its UK release this coming Friday. Check out what they had to say in this video interview...

Submarine opens in the UK on Friday and will hit North American cinemas on June 3rd.
