Cars may not be the most appreciated entry in Disney-Pixar's back catalogue of computer-animated masterpieces but with a world-wide gross of $461m (not to mention a fortune in merchandising sales), it becomes only the second Pixar film after Toy Story to get a sequel. Cars 2 is gearing up for release next summer and hot on the heels of the teaser poster which was unveiled yesterday comes the first theatrical trailer, which you can check out right here... Cars 2 sees Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) and Mater (Larry The Cable Guy) heading oversees to compete in the first ever World Grand Prix, only for Mater to get mixed up in the world of secret agents and international espionage. Antz and Ratatouille producer Brad Lewis shares directorial duties with Pixar founder and Disney CCO John Lasseter, while the cast also includes Michael Caine, Bonnie Hunt, Cheech Marin, John Ratzenberger and Michael Keaton.
Cars 2 is set for a 3D release on June 24th 2011 in North America and hits UK shores on July 22nd.
