Robin Soderling stated their intentions for the season-ending ATP World Tour Finals, when he won his first Masters title with a clinical 6-1 7-6 defeat of local favorite Gael Monfils in Paris on Sunday.
Soderling, seeded fourth was simply too good for Monfils and wrapped in an easy win to take the tiebreak in the second set 7-1.
His blend of brute force and the pace was too cumbersome for the French, who was convicted of second consecutive final defeat to Bercy.
With the backing of a capacity 14,500 crowd, Monfils has never found the key that helped eliminate 16 times Grand Slam champion Roger Federer on Saturday.
Soderling showed no weakness in 77 minutes the inner courtyard are quickly picked up his sixth ATP title before leaving London, where the ATP final will be played Nov. 21 at the O2 Arena.
