Doug Barron shot a 2-over 74 in the first round of the second stage of qualifying school Tuesday in the first round on the PGA Tour since his ban for violating anti-doping policy of the tour was his promise.
"I felt good out there, the juice was flowing this morning," Barron said. "The first hole felt that the last round of a PGA Tour event. I felt totally in control of my body. What is a good thing.
" Barron was the first player suspended under drug policy, the missing part of 2009 and most of the 2010th one-year ban was lifted in September, with Barron obtained a therapeutic use exemption low testosterone. His lawsuit against the PGA Tour has been set.
The 41-year Barron had two birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey-six at the par-4 16th hole at Redstone members, former site of the Shell Houston Open.
He was eight strokes behind the leaders early, with the best golfers 20 or so in the final Q-School in December.
